![]() I think there is some error here and I messed up big time. When I go to "Apps", the only app containing "Resolve" in its name is Control Panels. ![]() When I click "Install" without Control Panels checked, it shows a brief notification: "Installed" right after with no installation process. The installator allows me to only install DaVinci Control Panels for some reason, and the installation Wizard says I've got DaVinci Resolve 18,5 installed, whereas I don't have it anywhere on my computer.Īlso, for some reason it shows me "Windows 10 (圆4)", meanwhile I have Windows 11. Both the activation key and the USB dongle version are the same price and give you access to the current software. I'm pretty sure I've got the correct version downloaded this time. DaVinci Resolve Studio is the ultimate solution for any editor or postproduction house to produce top quality content. ![]() To now say that only new Studio 14 purchases will be honored with a code is a let down.įrom a programming standpoint I don't know if it's a possibility, but for the dongle to work without having to restart your machine would be a huge bonus.I've installed Studio version by mistake, uninstalled, downloaded free version, installed it, and it stills wants an activation key from me. So, I guess policy has changed and BM is not willing to do it.īlackmagic did make it sound like all of us with dongles would be able to freely upgrade/trade-in for a serial Activation Code. Tech Support wrote me that Serial number will be supplied to only new customers of DR 14. I wrote to Tech Support referring to the early announcement on Forum that dongle owner may be able to swap with a serial number. I expect, that BMD will come up with a solution for that.? You will also find helpful tips and tricks for using DaVinci Resolve and other software applications. If you are wondering how to get and use the DaVinci Resolve activation key, this article from PC Guide will explain everything you need to know. Thats what my dealer told me,too.thats why I bought a dongle earlier. DaVinci Resolve is a powerful video editing software that requires an activation key to unlock its full features. this is quite confusing, because blackmagic posted earlier, that the dongles can be changed to licence keys when Resolve 14 is released. Activation license keys will only ship starting from today's release but be sure to specify the activation license key during the transition if that's what you need. If you have not received it yet tell your reseller you would like the activation license key. Peter Chamberlain wrote:If you have the dongle already that will be your license key. Then run Studio with the dongle at home when an external monitor is connected anyway and need to apply noise reduction and reduce barrel distortion before a final render. I run the free version when I don't want a Dongle hanging off my laptop on the plane/in a coffee shop. Resolve 14 and Resolve 14 Studio can be installed fine simultaneously. At the very, very least, a Studio owner should be able to use the Resolve software at the same level of functionality as the free version even if they don't have the dongle connected. I'd even be fine with this de-authorizing my dongle. ![]() There really should be a solution where dongle owners can receive an activation code if they choose. There have been a few occasions where I have forgotten my dongle and therefore had to uninstall Resolve Studio, install the free version just to be able to do some work, and then re-install Studio once I had access to the dongle. Now that the software is no longer just considered a grading tool but is also firmly in the "editing" category, many people like my self are using it primarily on laptops. Dongles are fine for people who use Resolve on a stationary workstation. Andrew Welch wrote:This is a serious issue for me.
